The Alloway Candy dahlia cultivar’s color waxes through the summer with light pink buds, looking almost white at first glance at times the color deepens to a bright, candy-like pink, evoking thoughts of bubblegum.
The stellar form is always a surprise as, the buds open into star-shaped blooms with pointed petals spreading outward. The flowers are atop of strong, upright stems. Each stellar is about 4-5 inches across, coming together in a sea of pink. Throughout the summer, new buds prolifically continue to form and open up, the becoming more floriferous over time. By late summer, the entire 4-foot plant is covered in scores of pink star-shaped flowers, looking like it's dotting the garden with pieces of bubblegum. The blooms well into fall before the first frost hits. With their cheery color and unique shape, these flowers add a playful pop to the landscape.
